American Beech comes from the eastern part of North America and is found in the southern regions of Quebec. Its color ranges from cream to brown, with shades of pink in between. This piece of American Beech is particularly notable for featuring parts of coti wood. The term “coti” refers to the early stages of wood decay. This is especially visible through black lines created by fungi. The fungi proliferate when the wood is exposed to the elements, creating unique patterns. These characteristics make coti wood an exceptional aesthetic material, highly prized in turning! Additionally, this model of American Beech wood disc is equipped with LEDs. A backlighting effect elegantly outlines the piece. The diffuse light adds a touch of warmth to the room’s ambiance.

The pieces in the Cambium Arte collection are the result of careful attention and deep respect for solid wood that passes through our hands. Indeed, at MATPEL Ecological Carpentry, the woodworkers make it a priority to find, preserve, and reveal exceptional pieces hidden in even the smallest wood scraps and boards. Cambium Arte is a collection of wall art made exclusively from local wood species. Each piece is crafted by hand with care and respect. Furthermore, the finish applied contains low VOCs, preserving the natural look of the wood while enhancing the richness of its details. The hanging or mounting systems are pre-installed and thoughtfully designed. All that’s left is to hang the pieces on the wall!
